Re-Ink

Re- ink was a design sprint based project surrounding sustainable design for manufacture.

It was a CAD based project due to the Covid-19 circumstances.

The premise of the project was to give the ball point pen a longer life span and create a more emotional connection with the user.

In doing this I created a refill system whereby you use and send back the tubes in the capsule and in doing this gain points via a reward system.

The materials involved are reusable and recyclable such as aluminium for all parts bar the ink tubes and the ball point of the pen.

Re-Ink works so that the luxury of a Fountain pen and association of this luxury, encourages users to create a more meaningful experience with a ballpoint pen.

The use of a QR scanning code on the box to track your usage makes for an easier experience for the user and creates an enjoyable experience.

This was the service design blueprint I created for Re-ink.

I was aiming to prolong the lifespan of a ballpoint pen and how we connect with it.

Due to the prevalent movement of sustainability, using reusable materials or recyclable materials should be at the forefront of design.

This is why I chose to use aluminium due to reusability.
